Role Summary
This role leads the month-end quality control framework for financial accounting. The manager is responsible for ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of all accounts, enforcing control checks, driving compliance with accounting policies, and strengthening overall close governance. The position also partners with process owners to remediate recurring issues and to tighten preventive controls.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Month-End Quality Control & Review
· Lead the monthly quality control cycle covering all balance sheet and P&L accounts.
· Validate accuracy of account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and automated postings.
· Ensure issues are escalated and resolved before financial close deadlines.
2. Accounting Accuracy & Compliance
· Enforce accounting policies, documentation standards, and internal control requirements.
· Assess compliance with global finance standards and audit expectations.
· Perform deep-dive reviews on high-risk, control accounts (suspense), accruals and provision accounts.
3. Control Monitoring & Strengthening
· Maintain a robust control checklist for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end activities.
· Identify process gaps and implement preventive actions.
· Coordinate sign-offs from functional leads prior to close.
4. Coordination
· Work closely with financial accounting teams, transactional finance teams to ensure validated and aligned balances.
· Collaborate with system and operations teams on integration issues, mapping errors, and automated control failures.
5. Audit Support
· Check audit-ready schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
· Ensure to address audit observations with long-term corrective actions.
6. Continuous Improvement
· Monthly feedback, coordination with finance teams to address process and control gaps.
· Monitor trends in recurring issues and lead root-cause elimination efforts.
· Champion faster and more reliable close cycles (e.g., WD metrics improvement).
Position Requirements:
· Experience of financial accounting in a blue chip multinational PLC environment.
· Experience in in a multinational, shared services environment, volume intensive
· Experience of building strong relationships with peers and Finance Leaders.
· At least 10 years’ experience in Finance and Accounting
