Finance Director, Tax Compliance

 

Job Purpose

  • Full oversight of relevant processes within scope of the GSC tax team, and in line with country tax reporting and compliance requirements, across all taxes including Transfer Pricing
  • Develop processes and manage people to support increasing demands of stakeholders, auditors, and tax authorities considering changes to the way business operates and new working practices
  • Works very closely and collaborates with Group Head of Tax to achieve strategic and operational objectives, meet deadlines and resolution of key risks.
  • Work with Group Finance, Group Tax, Group Legal and GSC Tower leads to identify process improvement opportunities and controls to mitigate overall tax reporting and compliance risk
  • Ensures that the GSC Tax team maintains service delivery efficiency, quality and effectiveness, ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Work with and manage external tax advisors and/or functional in-country resources (i.e. part-time local IWG tax/field finance resources) for in-scope countries

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Plan and monitor tax reporting and compliance activities to ensure adherence with country regulatory requirements.
  • Keep abreast and advise stakeholders on the impact of tax developments across all taxes
  • Ensure all tax returns, declarations, and other required reports are submitted accurately and on time (incl CbCR and Transfer Pricing Returns where required)
  • Ensure appropriate review processes are in place and applied in relation to all tax filings and payments
  • Ownership and accountability for all tax accounting balances and their reconciliations to tax portals / assessments
  • Ensure that all Tax Audits are closely monitored and resolved in coordination with Field Finance / Group Head of Tax.
  • Providing support for external Group Tax reporting for countries in the scope of the GSC
  • In conjunction with the Field Finance Team review tax advisors/third party service provider’s fees and other relevant fees and endorse to responsible group heads for final approval.
  • Ensure VAT/other refunds are accurately and timely claimed from various country tax authorities.
  • Expected to perform tasks and/or detailed review of the GSC team particularly for countries that are either high-risk or escalated by the stakeholders
  • Assist in the integration and migration of systems, processes, and people as and when necessary
  • Address escalations and manage expectations of stakeholders, tax advisors and/or functional in-country resources (i.e. part-time local IWG tax/field finance resources)
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop people
  • Proactively review and manage operational issues and risks, and plan mitigating actions to address risks
  • Build internal control environment to ensure goals are met with high quality, accurate and timely service provision
  • Drive efficiency through innovation, automation, or process improvements
  • Ensure process documentation is complete and up to date
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Group Head of Tax

 

Qualifications

  • CPA
  • At least 12-15 years of experience in tax compliance with the most recent in a similar leadership role
  • Good working knowledge of international tax principles, preferably in the context of large multi nationals
  • Experience in dealing with tax audits and enquiries
  • Strong team leader with the ability to coach and develop people
  • Experience in managing teams that engage with country functional resources (part-time and full-time)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with proven ability to communicate across all levels within the organization and if needed externally
  • Able to prioritize tasks, manage issues and produce expected results in a timely manner
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented
  • Ability to quickly gain the confidence of the business and colleagues through influencing skills
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity and prepared to work in an agile, flexible method
  • Thrive on change and engender a collaborative approach
  • Experience working in the Big 4 Auditing Firms and BPO/ Finance Shared Services operations
  • Experience in dealing with and managing external tax advisors and country functional resources (part-time/fulltime)
