Regional Head of Credit Control

About the role

Reporting to the Global Head of Credit & Collections, you will lead a regional collections team responsible for maximising the debtor cash collection performance and reduce overdue debt whilst minimising any risk of late payment. You will execute the company collections strategy and drive a team of 30+ collections professionals to increase the percentage of successful debt recoveries, whilst simultaneously reducing bad debt.

 

Job duties

  • Lead and motivate an international team of 30+ Credit & Collections professionals including Team Leaders, Credit Controllers, Debt Collectors and third-party agencies.
  • Set, monitor, manage and analyse performance to ensure collection targets and other KPIs are met.
  • Leverage technology and automation to maximise process efficiencies, reduce manual workload and minimise defects.
  • Coach and performance manage the credit control and debt collection teams to drive the collection of overdue invoices and agreement value.
  • Develop strategies to boost recoveries, including but not limited to: call campaigns, account segmentation & prioritization and training/coaching initiatives.
  • Develop goals that complement the overarching company objectives and manage staff to continually meet and exceed targets.
  • Drive and authorize financial settlements and payment plans with customers.
  • Drive and manage both a small claims and high court litigation collections process, from filing cases through to (virtual) court hearings, judgement, and enforcement.
  • Ensure both out-of-court and legal collections cases are handled timely, appropriately, per company policy and in line with legal/local country requirements.
  • Hire, train, coach, mentor and evaluate team members within the collections department.
  • Run reports and analyse data pertaining to the team’s performance. Prepare and deliver regular updates on team performance.
  • Complete any administrative tasks as required for the efficient running of the team’s activities.
  • Perform other duties and projects supporting the Global Head of Credit & Collections, as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • 5+ years Credit Control experience, ideally with a large international B2B corporation or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable proven track record in collection or other finance support functions.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal in a thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective tools and techniques.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others to achieve goals, resolve problems, promote and implement solutions that enhance cross functional relationships and team performance.
  • Strong debt collection skills, including clear communication, assertiveness and persuasiveness in negotiation, quick thinking, objection handling and the ability to remain flexible and calm under high pressure.
  • Self-motivated and results driven, deploying effective tools & techniques.
  • Solid organisational skills, including the ability to manage complex caseloads through to completion and prioritise and multitask in a demanding environment.
  • Willingness to go beyond the job description to meet business goals.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

 

Desirable Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience using Credit & Collections management software such as High Radius, Sidetrade or Invevo.
  • CICM or alternative relevant qualification.
