Senior Business Requirements Analyst (Team Lead)

** This role can be based anywhere in Portugal **

Job Purpose

As the Senior Business Requirements Team Lead you will be responsible for 3 key areas:

  • Leading, mentoring and guiding of the Requirements team
    • Participate in their work assignments,
    • Peer review
    • General line management: quality, performance, team utilisation
  • Own the requirements competency / practice
    • Define best practice for Process and Business Analysis,
    • Define key deliverables in the process, templates, tools and architecture
    • Make sure all deliverables are correctly documented and stored
  • Requirements Analysis:
    • Participate in projects and frame business requirements deliverables
    • Participate in functional design sign offs together with other stakeholders as requested.

 

Key Responsibilities

As a team lead:

  • Guide and mentor the business analysts team.
  • Standardise the way of work of the Business and Process Analysts practice:
    • Define and optimize functional design templates
    • Define best practices and ensure they are followed by everyone
    • Build a knowledge base regarding all business processes and capabilities of IWG.
  • Provide business analysis effort estimations for the different projects.
  • Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Help solve functional problems and be the business analyst of last resort if need be.
  • Identify synergies within the different projects IWG is willing to implement and clearly identify dependencies.
  • Manage team performance, including setting up clear objectives, management, together with Project Managers and Business Delivery Directors, the workload of the team members and review individual contributions and performance.

 

As a lead of the requirements competency / practice:

  • Lead recruitment & onboarding activities for new hires or contractors.
  • Develop a BA induction programme and ensure that all new BAs are on-boarded in a consistent manner; the purpose of which is to ensure that all resources are inducted asap to enable them to be productive asap.
  • Development of a Business Requirements and Process Modelling competency, covering a database of organisational knowledge, skill requirements, project deliverables (processes, and functional requirements), ensuring reusability and sharing of information.
  • Identify what templates are required, work with your team to develop templates and ensure the roll-out of those templates to all business analysts. Continuously update the templates as and when required and communicate any changes.
  • Ensure that there is a single source of the truth with respect to where functional designs documents are stored. Ensure that the latest versions are available. Ensure communication of any changes. Implement an Enterprise Architecture suite across the team.
  • Develop naming conventions and standardised file structures.
  • Ensure that there is a well-defined end to end process clearly indicating roles, responsibilities, identifying what artifacts (templates) must be used when, best practice timeframes.
  • Develop an BA KPI scorecard, ensure that all BAs understand their KPIs, and the KPI measurement process.

 

And, as a senior requirements analyst, you would participate in business requirements gathering to assist junior team members and identify areas to improve your processes. In addition, ensure that the following take place.

  • Populate the Knowledge Base when new products are implemented or existing products are amended.
  • Identify synergies within the different projects IWG is willing to implement and clearly identify dependencies.

 

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  1. 10+ years experience (>7 years of experience in IT field).
  2. Experience (5 years+) leading a large regionally dispersed team of Business and Process Analysts in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  3. University Degree in Information Technologies, Engineering or similar
  4. Proven development of innovative and impactful systems solutions
  5. Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  6. Ability to influence stakeholders, including Department Heads and C suite individuals and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions
  7. Cultural Fit

    • Ability to quickly absorb technical concepts and effectively simplify and communicate them to a non-technical audience.

    • Experience of working in a global and multi-cultural environment and have appetite for fast-paced organizations with global delivery / reach 
    • Dynamic working approach, and the ability to think innovatively to solve problems 
    • Can demonstrate initiative and ownership of issues through to resolution / completion 
    • Good business judgment, a comfortable, open communication style, and a willingness and ability to work with our internal and external teams.
