Role Purpose

IWG is undertaking a transformation of its global digital ecosystem, including modernising its approach to payments, contracting, billing, and financial operations across its flex-workspace portfolio.

We are seeking a Payment Platform Owner & Implementation Lead to design, develop, and scale IWG’s next-generation payment infrastructure, centred on Stripe Connect and aligned with the operational requirements of a multinational commercial real-estate and flexible workspace provider.

The role is accountable for shaping the technical and operational model for how IWG and 3rd party operator accepts payments, settles funds, manages tax and invoicing, and operates under both Disclosed Agent and Principal models across different markets.

Within the Digital team, you will ensure that our global digital products (web, app, partner channels, regional platforms – including China) are supported by a scalable, compliant, and efficient payment capability.

 

Key Responsibilities

Payment Platform Ownership

  • Serve as the primary owner for IWG’s Stipe Connect payment platform within the digital team, with responsibility for architecture, capability definition, roadmaps, and operational performance.
  • Lead the implementation and ongoing optimisation of Stripe Connect across all customer journeys (online, in-centre, recurring billing, marketplace-style flows, Day Pass, meeting rooms, and digital commerce). For IWG sold products and 3rd party operators
  • Define and maintain a global payment capability model covering authorisation, capture, settlement, payouts, refunds, chargebacks, dispute handling, reconciliation, invoicing, and tax

Global Operating Model & Compliance

  • Design market-specific payment flows that comply with local regulatory, tax, invoicing, and data requirements.
  • Build capability to support both Disclosed Agent and Principal operating models, for IWG, Franchises and 3rd party operators ensuring correct handling of funds, revenue recognition, and customer communication.
  • Work closely with Finance, Tax, Legal, and Treasury to ensure operational compliance in each jurisdiction.

Integration & Implementation Across the Digital Ecosystem

  • Work with engineering teams, digital product owners and website owners to integrate the payment platform into IWG’s and industry global digital ecosystem, including:
    • Websites and e-commerce journeys
    • Digital apps (e.g., Day Pass, booking tools)
    • China platforms (e.g., WeChat, little red book and Xiaohongshu etc)
    • B2B/enterprise workflows
    • CRM, ERP, billing and accounting systems
    • Identity and user management
  • Provide clear functional and technical requirements for global and regional deployments.

Invoicing, Tax & Financial Operations

  • Define processes for generating tax-compliant invoices, including the handover of billing content, calculation of tax, and distribution of invoices across channels.
  • Work with Finance teams to implement tax-compliant invoicing models for multiple countries without relying on specific vendor products.
  • Ensure that payments, tax, and invoicing systems support both global billing (e.g., monthly membership revenue) and transactional usage products (e.g., meeting rooms, Day Pass, add-ons).
  • Manage relationships with the central Finance Operations and Shared Services teams to ensure correct reconciliation, GL posting, and settlement processes.

Risk Management, Controls & Governance

  • Ensure the platform meets security and compliance requirements, including PCI, data protection, fraud prevention, and financial controls.
  • Create governance processes covering payment changes, releases, exceptions, and incident management.
  • Monitor performance metrics including authorisation rates, payment success, cost of payment acceptance, and dispute rates.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as IWG’s day-to-day lead for Stripe Connect, managing roadmap, performance, commercial terms, and service escalation.
  • Work with internal and external development partners globally, including teams in EMEA, APAC, India/China, and the Americas.
  • Influence senior leaders across Technology, Digital, Finance, Commercial, and Country Management to standardise global payment practices.

 

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience implementing or owning a modern payment platform in a large, multi-country business.
  • Hands-on experience with Stripe Connect, including marketplace-style flows, multi-party payments, payouts, compliance configurations, and onboarding processes.
  • Strong understanding of payments within a commercial property or retail-style environment, including recurring billing, multi-location operations, and complex product catalogues.
  • Understanding of global payment methods, settlement processes, refunds, dispute workflows, and financial reconciliation.
  • Experience operating under Disclosed Agent and Principal commercial models, and how these impact payments, invoicing, tax, and accounting flows.
  • Ability to define clear functional and technical requirements, and work closely with engineering teams to implement scalable solutions.
  • Strong familiarity with invoicing, tax rules (global variations), revenue recognition, and general financial operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work with senior stakeholders across multiple regions and disciplines.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a multinational organisation with a complex digital ecosystem.
  • Understanding of CRM, ERP, and billing systems commonly used in global enterprises.
  • Experience in large digital transformation or platform consolidation programmes.
  • Knowledge of payment-related compliance frameworks (PCI, KYC/KYB, AML, data protection).
